【Abstract】Pinnacle National Park is the latest national park, upgraded from national monument
in 2013. It is also the closest national park from the Bay Area. After two visits, I found it just soso, not so much to see comparing to other parks. The main reasons people go there are for condor viewing, or outdoor rock climbing.
Pinnacle National Park 是最近幾年才從 National Monument 升格的國家公園，也是離灣區距離最近的國家公園。我們在 14 和 15 年兩次造訪，覺得做為一個國家公園，這裡的景觀實在是稍嫌不足。不過當成一個近郊可以走走的地方，好像也還不錯。
Pinnacle National Park 主要的賣點是遠古火山噴發形成的各種地質景觀（包括各種形狀特異的山丘和一些小型地下隧道），而且這些山丘很適合戶外攀岩，因此常有愛好者聚集。另外這些山峰也是 condor （一種老鷹）的棲息地，Pinnacle 之所以能變成國家公園，跟它是保育類動物的家也有很大關係。
我們第一次去的時候是走 condor gulch to high peaks loop 這個 trail，窄窄的山徑一路往山上的大石頭群走去，路上不時有通往特別標註的攀岩點的標誌。走到山頂附近，看到一位 ranger 在請大家保持安靜，因為頭上有 condor 在山上築巢孵蛋。這條路風景普通，到了山頂左右有很多窄路要巧妙地左右側身才能通行，那一小段蠻好玩的，不過除此之外算是很一般的 trail。
第二次我們是和朋友一起去走另一條短 trail，風景也是普通。對灣區人來說，如果有一天空閒想要出去走走，這裡可以是（眾多）選項之一。
